Vice PM Tanczos Barna: Rable Programme needs to be reconsidered over a 3-4 year period

Published on

The ‘Rabla’ Programme has been substantially changed this year and I do not believe it the best decision in a period full of challenges, Vice Prime Minister Tanczos Barna said on Tuesday, at the third edition of the Sustainable and Accessible Mobility Forum.

„The dialogue with the automotive sector must also continue regarding national support programmes for this sector. It is no secret that in 2021, I negotiated for the first time with you [the automotive industry] a four-year plan for the ‘Rabla’ Programme, which has been substantially changed this year. I do not believe this is the best decision in a period full of challenges. The Government also takes decisions that not all of us agree with… I am not saying I would have acted differently if I were in the ministry, but ‘Rabla’ certainly needs to be reconsidered over a 3-4 year period, with priorities and objectives set, and together with the sector we must complete a dialogue that leads to a decision for the next four years. We cannot make annual changes, we cannot support this uncertainty, which basically puts the sales sector in a very difficult position. This dialogue will certainly help stabilize life and will also benefit entrepreneurs in this area,” Tanczos said.

He added that the budget deficit cannot be viewed solely from an accounting perspective, but measures must be devised to generate revenue in the medium and long term.

„The regional and global challenges you face must be analysed and the Government too, must be aware of them and how it can support you once again in order to help this essential pillar of the national economy. The resources we generally need to find, this discussion regarding the budget deficit cannot be viewed solely from an accounting perspective. The national economy is a far more complex organism, we cannot look only at inflows and outflows, taxes, fees or expenditures at the level of budgets or state institutions. We need to see how we can generate that income, those revenues in the medium and long term,” the official said.

The Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers in Romania (APIA) is organizing on Tuesday the third edition of the Sustainable and Accessible Mobility Forum.
