PSD MEP Victor Negrescu congratulates Sweden’s Social Democrats on their election victory!
- “A score of 28% is an important result for the European left as a whole, especially as the runner-up won less than 20% and the extremists lost many seats.
At a time when we are told almost every day that the rise of the far right is inevitable, Sweden is showing that elections can also be won by other means, even though, obviously, it is not easy, especially when the right allies itself with extremists.
The Social Democrats won by remaining the main alternative to this political formula and by speaking about people’s concrete concerns, despite facing a great deal of disinformation and a network that the press has shown to be close to the Russian Federation.
This is a relevant lesson for Europe as a whole and for Romania: the far right must not be imitated in order to defeat it.
It must be opposed democratically, through credible solutions and a strong political alternative that is close to the people. Long and intense negotiations lie ahead to form the future government, and every seat won by political allies will count. Congratulations, Magdalena Andersson!” Victor Negrescu said.
