Voluntary pension funds held assets worth 6.59 billion lei at the end of August 2025, marking a 20% increase compared to the same period the previous year, according to a report by the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF).
„Most investments were made locally (95%), with the majority denominated in lei (87%),” the report mentions.
The value of contributions transferred in August was 79 million lei, while the average contribution amounted to 167 lei.
Government securities held the largest share of assets, totalling 4.2 billion lei, or 63.8%. Shares ranked second, with 1.76 billion lei (26.8%). Investment funds came third in this regard, with 223.81 million lei, representing 3.4% of total assets.
According to ASF data, voluntary pension funds had 939,280 participants in August 2025.
