The Central Electoral Bureau adopted on Tuesday a decision stipulating that voters residing abroad, who have established their residence in Romania starting April 11, 2024, cannot exercise their right to vote in this year’s election for local public administration authorities.
According to the mentioned document, in the case of voter residing abroad who established his/her residence in the country before April 11, 2024 and is not registered in the permanent electoral list and who goes to vote at the polling station where the street where he/she has his residence is located, he/she will be able to exercise his/her right to vote at that polling station, to be entered in the supplementary electoral list by the chairman of the electoral bureau of the polling station.
Also, the decision stipulates that, in the election for local public administration authorities in 2024, the voter residing in the country, who established his/her residence in another unit of the administrative-territorial authority of the country before April 11, 2024 and is not registered in the permanent electoral list and who goes to vote at the polling station where the street where he/she resides is located, will be able to exercise his/her right to vote at that polling station, and will be registered in the supplementary electoral list by the president of the electoral bureau of the polling station.
„The identity document proves identity, Romanian citizenship, home address and, as the case may be, residence address. In addition, the proof of residence can also be done with proof of residence, which consists in mentioning the residence entered on a document that will accompany the simple identity card, the electronic identity card and the provisional identity card,” also established the BEC decision.
