We have resumed hiring of healthcare workers says PM Ciolacu

Published on

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Tuesday said that the measures taken by the government currently allow the hiring of healthcare workers in hospitals without the obligation of a memorandum, adding that a solution is still being considered to boost hiring by large hospitals, such as the University Hospital and the Fundeni Clinical Institute.

He was asked on Tuesday at the Government House about the shortage of healthcare workers at certain hospitals in the country, an example being the hospital at Gaesti, Dambovita County.

„And you know very well that we have resumed hiring teachers and healthcare workers. There is no longer a requirement for a memorandum if someone retires, quits or resigns. Automatically, managers can hire. There are no restrictions on the emergency system, nor is there any restriction for the ICU. Now, after the discussions we had with the minister, we will also include large hospitals. There are national programmes, there are also NGOs, ‘Save the Children’, ‘Caravan with doctors’, where they provide healthcare, prevention, healthcare for the countryside, but we have to admit that there are some elite organisations, hospitals, such as the University Hospital, such as the Fundeni Institute, where lives are saved, where patients enter almost without a hope and leave on their feet. I talked with the minister, and we will come up with a solution to somehow boost hiring there (…),” Ciolacu said.
