Wholesale turnover in Romania, down 1.7pct eight months into 2024

Wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles in Romania decreased by 1.1% between January 1 and August 31, 2024, year-on-year seasonally adjusted , according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

On a monthly basis, the August 2024 wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, declined 3.3% overall, seasonally adjusted

Y-o-y, the August 2024, the wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, decreased overall by 7.7% on decreases in wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (-37.2%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (-13.6%), wholesale of consumer goods other than food (-10.1%), other specialised wholesale (-3.4%) and wholesale intermediaries (-0.6%).

On the other hand, there were increases in wholesale of information and communication equipment (+17.3%), non-specialised wholesale trade (+6.0%) and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+4.4%).

Seasonally adjusted, the wholesale turnover, except of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles, in August 2024, decreased by 4.8% overall, y-o-y.
