The Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has indicted a woman in an advanced stage of self-radicalisation who systematically accessed and promoted, through computer systems, terrorist propaganda material specific to an organization active in the Middle East, write Agerpres.
The woman is Florentina Liliana Gidea, who has been accused of similar offences in the past and received a suspended sentence.
According to a DIICOT press release, the woman will be tried by the Craiova Court of Appeal for committing the offences of promoting a message through propaganda by any means, in public, with the intention of inciting to commit an act of terrorism and repeatedly accessing terrorist propaganda material, by means of computer systems or other means of electronic communication, and possession of such material for the purpose of adopting terrorist ideology as part of a radicalisation process, both committed as post-conviction recidivism.
Investigators allege that the woman, in an advanced stage of self-radicalisation, systematically accessed and promoted terrorist propaganda material, specific to a terrorist organization active in the Middle East, through computer systems.
The materials accessed/disseminated by the woman included battle scenes and training sessions of members of this organisation, as well as images of fighters of the terrorist entity.
The woman also promoted the insignia and activities of the terrorist organisation active in the Middle East and its ideology through her accounts on social media/messaging applications.
The prosecutors mention that the woman edited the terrorist propaganda materials, including by adding the distinctive signs, assuming the resumption/continuation of the criminal activities only 6 days after receiving a suspended sentence for committing the same kind of offences.
The indictment requested the maintenance of the measure of seizure and the special confiscation of the goods used in the commission of the offences and ordered the woman to pay legal costs in the amount of 4,500 RON.
