Worked, processed wood in Romania declines 1.7% in 2021

Worked and processed wood in Romania decreased by 1.7% in volume as against 2020, to 19.446 million cubic meters (cu.m.), according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres reads.

The volume of roundwood worked or processed declined 1.4% in 2021, y-o-y, to 17,796 cu.m.

The largest share in the total volume of roundwood worked or processed is held by hardwood species (60%), while resinous species cover 40%.

Among the hardwood species, beech wood had the largest share, 31.7% in the total roundwood worked or processed.

In 2021, as against 2020, there was a 1.4% decrease in the volume of roundwood, mainly caused by the fact that resinous species decreased by 4.7%, to a 40% share in the volume of worked or processed roundwood, and the hardwood species together advanced 0.9%, to a 60% share in the total volume of worked or processed round wood.

The main destination of roundwood was logs, as much as 51%, followed by wood fuel, as much as of 36.3%.
