The new Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday evening on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Bali, on which occasion he accepted the invitation to pay a visit to China, AFP reports on Thursday, citing several official sources, Agerpres reads.

In his second trip abroad since the beginning of the pandemic, the Chinese leader had several bilateral meetings in Bali that allowed the warming of diplomatic relations.

At the end of the discussions, which lasted around an hour, President Xi invited the head of the Italian government to undertake a visit to China, the invitation being accepted, mentions the communique of Rome.

After almost three years of isolation in the context of the pandemic, Xi Jinping held a series of bilateral meetings in Bali, including a much-anticipated meeting with his American counterpart Joe Biden on Monday, a meeting that allowed the easing of bilateral tensions.
