As many as 15 parties and electoral or political alliances and seven independents have registered, at the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC), their candidacies for the European Parliament election within the deadline provided by law, according to the data published on BEC’s website.
In this sense, the PNL – PSD Electoral Alliance (Social Democratic Party – National Liberal Party), the United Right Alliance (Save Romania Union (USR) – People’s Movement Party (PMP) – Forta Dreptei), the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), the Renewing the European Project of Romania Party, the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania, the S.O.S. Romania Party, the Social Liberal Humanist Party, have registered their lists of candidates for the European Parliament
The Socialist Romania Alliance, the Right Alternative Party, the United Diaspora Party, the Free People’s Party, the Greater Romania Party, the New Romania Party, the Patriots’ Party, the Maniu-Mihalache National Peasant Party, have also submitted their candidacies to the BEC.
At the same time, seven independents also registered their candidacy: Dumitru-Silvestru Sosoaca, Paul-Octavian Jurma, Paula-Marinela Pirvanescu, Vlad-Dan Gheorghe, Ilie-Catalin Mustatea, Nicolae-Bogdanel Stefanuta, Petru Mindru.
According to BEC’s decision and the established calendar, the deadline for submitting the lists of candidates for the European Parliament election and their files ended on April 10, at 23:59. In order to admit the candidacies, along with the candidate files, the political parties, alliances and organizations of the national minorities also submitted the lists of supporters, including at least 200,000 people, while the independent candidates’ lists of supporters include at least 100,000 people.
