Bucharest mayor Nicusor Dan declared on Tuesday that if he becomes president, Ilie Bolojan would be very suitable for the position of prime minister, given that he wants a prime minister capable of taking the country out of the routine in which it has been „stagnant” for years.
„I want a prime minister who has the same type of vision as me and I want a prime minister who is capable of taking the Romanian state out of the routine in which it has been stagnant for years and this prime minister cannot be Marcel Ciolacu. Beyond that, I don’t want to promise anything. Obviously, I like Mr. Bolojan, he would be very suitable. In the event that I become president, I will have a discussion with the leaders, with the representatives of the pro-Western parties in Parliament”, stated Nicusor Dan when presenting his electoral program.
Asked by journalists whether Ilie Bolojan would represent an ideal option, given that he was present at the launch of the program of the „Romania Forward” Alliance candidate, Crin Antonescu, Nicusor Dan replied that Bolojan is temporarily head of state and leader of the PNL.
„He is temporarily the president of Romania, he is also temporarily the president of the PNL, which is part of a political alliance. That doesn’t mean anything. What is relevant is that Mr. Crin Antonescu said that he would continue with Mr. Ciolacu. That is relevant,” Nicusor Dan argued.
He mentioned that the scandal in the USR did not remain without effect. „Intuitively yes, but we don’t have data. (…) It’s an internal problem of the USR”, said the mayor general of Bucharest, when asked to what extent the scandal in the USR regarding the candidacy in the presidential elections affected him.
Asked what he has as a plus versus Lasconi, Nicusor Dan mentioned that in the local election in Bucharest he was voted by the rightist electorate.
„I remind you that in the local election in Bucharest last summer I was voted by practically the entire rightist public, including the National Liberal Party, the People Movement Party, SENS, Drept, REPER, Force of Right”, he explained.
