30 associations and foundations accredited by AEP as observers for June 9 elections

A number of 30 associations and foundations have been accredited by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) as observers for the European Parliament and local elections to be held on June 9.

These include Expert Forum, Funky Citizens Association and Geeks for Democracy Association.

The Foundation for a Modern Romania, the Association Imaginea Romaniei, Millennium for Human Rights, the National Anti-Corruption, Justice and Transparency Association, the Youth Development and Evolution Association, the Association for Combating Disinformation have also been accredited.

According to a decision of the AEP, published in the Official Journal, in order to be accredited for the elections of Romanian members of the European Parliament and for the elections of local government authorities in 2024, the interested association or foundation must submit a request to the Permanent Electoral Authority no later than 15 days before the election date.

On the basis of the accreditation document issued by the AEP, the association or foundation may appoint only non-political persons as domestic observers.

Internal observers may attend the operations of the electoral bureaus of polling stations only on the basis of a badge accompanied by their identity card.
