The General Inspectorate of the Border Police (IGPF) informs on Thursday that, in the last 24 hours, 52 foreign citizens who did not meet the conditions provided for by law were not allowed to enter the country and 26 Romanian citizens were not allowed to leave for various legal reasons.
„On June 26, border police officers from all over the country carried out the formalities for crossing the border, both in the direction of entry and exit, for over 215,500 people, Romanian and foreign citizens, and approximately 69,800 means of transport that crossed the border,” the IGPF said, in a press release sent to AGERPRES.
On the way to enter Romania, through the land border points, but also through the air and maritime ones (arrivals from non-Schengen states), the formalities for entering the country were carried out for 101,273 people. At the same time, 32,332 means of transport entered the country.
In the last 24 hours, in the areas of competence – the crossing points and at the „green border” – the border police found 104 illegal acts (49 felonies and 55 misdemeanors) by which the Romanian legislation was violated.
„Fines amounting to 45,100 RON were imposed and goods worth more than 122,000 RON were seized for confiscation, which were stopped from being sold in order to protect consumers,” IGPF mentions.
Starting from March 31, 2024, border police officers at airports and seaports throughout the country will no longer carry out control formalities for people traveling in the Schengen area, but will carry out specific actions to check the identity and legal status of people, but also to prevent and combat illegal acts.
To carry out these checks, the police have mobile terminals connected to the relevant databases of the Romanian authorities, but also to those in the Schengen Area, performing, in the last 24 hours, over 4,100 checks in the eDAC app.
