54 cases of West Nile virus infection since June 3, five deaths (INSP)

The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informed on Thursday that, since the beginning of the West Nile virus infection surveillance period, June 3 and until September 12, 54 cases have been registered, of which 48 confirmed and 6 probable.

According to the INSP, five deaths have been recorded as a result of West Nile virus infection – in Salaj county – 1, Suceava county – 3 and one in Bucharest.

Most cases – 17 – were registered in the 70-79 age group and 13 in people aged between 60 and 69, the INSP said.
