The blockades caused by the restrictions imposed on the national roads in Suceava County over the past two days, due to extreme weather conditions, as well as the protest of Romanian farmers on April 7, held near the Siret Border Crossing Point (PTF), have disrupted the work of border police and customs officers, write Agerpres.
Iulia Stan, spokesperson of the Sighetu Marmatiei Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police (ITPF), said on Saturday that the waiting time on the way into Romania is currently 120 minutes and 960 minutes on the way out of Romania.
The quoted source said that, at present, there are about 700 trucks waiting, over a distance of 15 km, nonetheless these trucks are stationed only outside localities.
In the last 24 hours, more than 600 trucks have been processed through Siret Border Crossing Point.
”The Border Police still has reserves of trained personnel, available checking equipment and organisational capacity to manage as many trucks as possible, but we are talking about a multiple control, namely a customs control, phytosanitary, sanitary veterinary, a control of the vehicle road fee vignette, as well as the weight of the truck load, according to the rules provided by law,” said Iulia Stan.
Traffic participants were informed that they can also transit through Vicovu de Sus Border Crossing Point.
However, Stan said that traffic flow is also conditioned by the border control of the Ukrainian authorities.
