88 cases of West Nile virus infection since June 3 to date, 18 deaths (INSP)

The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informed that since the beginning of the surveillance period for West Nile virus infection, June 3 – October 24, 88 cases of West Nile virus infection have been registered, of which 72 confirmed and 16 probable.

According to INSP, 18 deaths have been recorded as a result of West Nile virus infection: in Bihor (1), Botosani (2), Braila (1), Giurgiu (1), Dambovita (1), Iasi (1), Mures (2), Salaj (1), Suceava (3), Timis (1), Vrancea (1), Bucharest (3).

The most cases – 27 – were recorded in the 70-79 age group and 25 in people aged between 60 and 69, the INSP said.
