The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informed on Wednesday that 9,695 cases of measles were confirmed between January 1, 2023 and March 24, 2024.
In the last week, there were 850 new cases and two deaths: a man, 26 years old, vaccinated against measles (2 doses), with multi-factorial immunodepression (long corticosteroid therapy) and a woman, 59 years old, not vaccinated against measles, with multi-factorial immunodepression, multiple myeloma.
According to the INSP, there have been 11 deaths have occurred due to measles since the beginning of the reporting period.
The 9,695 confirmed measles cases were reported in 40 counties (out of 41) and Bucharest.
The highest number of illnesses were recorded in Brasov – 1,526, Mures – 1,074 and in Bucharest – 1,127.
