Romania’s industrial production down two months into 2024

Seasonally adjusted industrial production in Romania in the first two months of 2024 decreased by 3.1%, y-o-y, according to data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The decrease was the result of falling outputs in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply (-4.1%), manufacturing (-3.1%) and mining and quarrying (-2.4%).

In February 2024, industrial production was up 2.7% on a monthly basis seasonally adjusted as a result of increases recorded in the mining and quarrying (+8.4%) and manufacturing (+3.1%). Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply decreased by 2.8%.

As against February 2023, February 2024 industrial production seasonally adjusted was down 2.2% on decreases in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply (-5.7%) and manufacturing (-2.2%). Mining and quarrying was up 2.5%.
