The prosumers credited the energy suppliers for free and without interest, in 2023 only, with over 50 million euros, under the conditions in which, in 2021, according to OUG 143, the prosumers had „at their disposal the injected energy for a maximum period of 24 months”.
„Following a questionable interpretation of the legislation in force, the National Regulatory Authority in the Energy Area (ANRE) imposed on prosumers a mandatory period of 24 months to benefit from the value of the energy injected into the network. This decision generated a free of charge „credit line” in favor of suppliers worth over 50 million euros,” the press release states.
According to the source, „the difference between the active energy price at the suppliers’ contract price and the energy that would be paid for after 24-48 months is huge”.
In accordance to the data obtained by the Association of Prosumers and Energy Communities in Romania from ANRE, the total amount of electricity injected into the network by prosumers in 2022 and 2023 amounts to approximately 660 GWh.
„Part of this energy was sold by the suppliers at high prices, up to two or three times higher than the purchase price from the prosumers, generating a substantial income for the suppliers. Practically all the suppliers with whom the prosumers had a contract they sold on, instantly, this active energy, collecting the money monthly from their clients and compensation from the state,” the press release states.
