Liberal Burduja: Out of respect for Bucharesters, we have to put forth a liberal model of administration

Published on

Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja of the National Liberal Party (PNL) said on Tuesday that in this year’s electioneering for the Bucharest City Hall, a liberal model of public administration should be put forth.

„All these shenanigans (…) are unpleasant to the people of Bucharest. Out of respect for them, we have to move forward and put forth a liberal model of administration,” Burduja said, adding that he always put people’s interest first.

„I want to see electioneering without attacks on any of the participants, a different kind of electioneering for genuine democracy. That should be Romania after 34 years where we should really talk for the people of Bucharest about solutions, programmes, investments, as a European capital should look like. That’s what’s at stake. Can Bucharest give the example of different canvassing?”

Burduja accompanied President Klaus Iohannis on an official visit to South Korea.

The ruling coalition in Romania decided on Monday evening to propose separate candidates for the Bucharest City Hall, namely Gabriela Firea of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and Burduja in order to maximise the electorates of the two parties, according to political sources.

The sources specified that the two candidates for Bucharest City Hall will not attack each other while electioneering but will have a constructive campaign focused on solutions for Bucharest.
