Romania’s wholesale turnover up 3.2pct, Jan.-Feb. 20024

The turnover in Romania’s wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased in the first two months of 2024, y-o-y, both unadjusted and adjusted for seasonality, by 3.2% and 2.9%, respectively, show data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Thus, the turnover in the wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, January 1- February 29, 2024, increased overall y-o-y on increases in wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (+21.6%), non-specialised wholesale trade (+17.0%), specialised wholesale of other products (+14.9%) and wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+12.7%).

Decreases were recorded in wholesale trade intermediation (-11.9%), consumer goods wholesale other than food (-8.5%), wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (-6.2%) and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-3.7%).

According to INS, the February 2024 turnover from wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, increased on a monthly basis overall by 12.1%, on increases in specialised wholesale of other products (+32.8%), wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (+20.1%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+19.6%), wholesale of raw agricultural products and live animals (+19.4%), non-specialised wholesale (+7.4%), wholesale of consumer goods other than food (+2.7%) and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+0.7%). Intermediation in wholesale trade decreased by 1.7%.

When adjusted for seasonality, the February 2024 turnover from wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 0.2% overall on a monthly basis.

Also, the February 2024 turnover from wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, increased by 4.8% overall, y-o-y, on increases in turnover from specialised wholesale of other products (+20.3%), wholesale of raw agricultural products and live animals (+17.9%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+17.6%), non-specialised wholesale (+14.3%) and wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (+1.2%).

Decreases were recorded intermediation (-12.7%), wholesale of consumer goods other than food (-6.7%) and wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-5.5%).

When adjusted for seasonality, it increased by 3.6% overall.
