Shown on the reverse of both the silver and the copper-covered tombac coins are the NATO logo, the inscriptions „ADERAREA ROMANIEI LA NATO (ROMANIA’s NATO ACCESSION”, and „2004”, the year Romania joined the North Atlantic Alliance.

Both coins come in transparent methacrylate casings and are accompanied by certificates of authenticity in Romanian, English and French, signed by the BNR governor and the central cashier. The maximum mintage for both the silver and the tombac coin is 5,000 pieces.
