Over 1,800 companies and self-employed persons, go bankrupt in Q1 2024

The number of commercial companies and self-employed persons (PFA) who got bankrupt in the first quarter of 2024 was 1,803, an increase of 9.67% compared to the similar period in 2023, when 1,644 insolvencies were registered, according to data published on the website of the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).

In March alone, 683 insolvencies were recorded.

The most companies and PFAs who went bankrupt were registered in Bucharest, respectively 332, a decrease of 9.04% compared to the first three months of 2023.

By fields of activity, the largest number of insolvencies was recorded in wholesale, retail, automobile and motorcycle repair, respectively 485 (plus 3.85% compared to the first three months of 2023), construction – 363 (plus 18.24%) and in the manufacturing industry – 214 (plus 12.63%).
