Mihai Tudose – European Parliament Report (VII): „The European Commission sets unsustainable deadlines”

Published on

On the topic of the energy transition, I had to formulate repeated criticisms of the European Commission throughout the mandate.

For example, in relation to the legislation proposed by the European Commission regarding the energy performance of buildings, we drew attention: „Once again, the European Commission sets unsustainable deadlines, just like for switching to electric motors or giving up natural gas. I note again, with regret, both the over-regulation tendency of the European Commission and its dogmatism disconnected from the citizens’ agenda”.

As a result, we asked the EU forum „to support citizens and not to burden them further, in an already tense social and energy context”.

And in the debate regarding the Regulation on fluorinated gases, we had the following position:

„I agree with the elimination of fluorinated gases, because of their greenhouse effect, but the reduction must be gradual, so that the sectors concerned can adapt technologically to develop non-polluting alternatives, and citizens are not forced to buy new products before the end of the life cycle of those already owned.

It is not normal for the industry already hit by the pandemic and the energy crisis, the market affected by the dysfunctional supply chains and the consumers burdened by the difficulties of daily life to be so upset”.
