Retail trade volume, except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased in Romania in the first quarter of 2024 by 5.5%, y-o-y, seasonally adjusted, according to data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Y-o-y, the retail trade volume except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 4.3% in March 2024 seasonally adjusted.
Seasonally adjusted, the Q1 2024 retail trade volume, except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycle increased by 5.5% amid increased retail sale of non-food products (+11.5%), retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+3.2%), and retail sale of food products, beverages and tobacco (+0.9%), y-o-y.
On a monthly basis, the March 2014 retail trade volume, except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycle, advanced overall on increases in retail sale of automotive fuel in specialised stores (+2.1%). Retail sale of food products, beverages and tobacco fell by 0.4%, while retail sale of non-food products levelled out, all seasonally adjusted.
The March 2024 retail trade volume, except trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as against March 2023, was up overall on increases in retail sale of non-food products (+10.9%) and retail sale of motor fuel in specialised stores (+5.1%). Sale of food products, beverages and tobacco decreased by 1.7%, INS reports.
