Chairman of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and Senate president Nicolae Ciuca said on Friday, at the Forum of Presidents of the Siret-Prut-Nistru Euroregion, which took place in Iasi, that economic exchanges between Romania and the Republic of Moldova have tripled in the last ten years.
He also pointed out that Romania has become the main trade partner of the Republic of Moldova and the main foreign investor in the Republic of Moldova.
„If we think about the economic relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, ten years ago, the economic exchanges amounted to one billion euros. Today we are talking about three billion euros. Practically, in a decade, in ten years, they have tripled. Romania has become the most important investor in the Republic of Moldova. We have investments of more than 400 million euros and, at the same time, Romania has become the main trading partner, with exports from the Republic of Moldova being mostly directed to Romania,” said Ciuca.
Referring to the security context in the region, Nicolae Ciuca said that „the resilience of the Republic of Moldova will increase with the strengthening of cooperation with Romania”.
The PNL leader was accompanied to Iasi by European Commissioner Adina Valean and MEP Rares Bogdan.
