Industry turnover, up by 3.3% in first quarter

The turnover in the industry increased, in nominal terms, as a whole, by 3.3%, in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year, due to the growth of the manufacturing industry (+4.6%), according to the data National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Friday.

The extractive industry decreased by 24.3%.

On large industrial groups, turnover increases were recorded in the capital goods industry (+9.1%), the energy industry (+6.6%), the durable goods industry (+3.1%) and consumer goods industry (+0.4%). The intermediate goods industry decreased by 1.6%.

In March 2024 v February, the turnover in the industry increased, in nominal terms, by 6.9% in total, due to the growth recorded in the processing industry (+7.1%) and in the extractive industry (+1, 6%).

Among the large industrial groups, increases were recorded in the durable goods industry (+7.7%), the energy industry (+7.6%), the current goods industry (+6.9%), the capital goods industry (+ 6.9%) and the intermediate goods industry (+6.5%).

Compared to March 2023, the turnover in the industry decreased, in nominal terms, overall, by 0.5%, as a result of the decrease recorded in the extractive industry by 22.1%. The manufacturing industry grew by 0.4%.

On the large industrial groups, increases were recorded: the energy industry (+10.1%), the capital goods industry (+6.4%) and the durable goods industry (+3.2%). Decreases were recorded in the intermediate goods industry (-7%) and the consumer goods industry (-5.6%).
