Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu expressed his belief that inflation in Romania will drop below 5% by the end of this year.
He declared, in a press conference held in northeastern Iasi, that Romania has an estimated economic growth in both 2024 and 2025.
„I took over an inflation of 10.3. We have now reached an inflation of 5.8-5.9. It is obvious that we are in a downward trend. I am firmly convinced that towards the end of the year, there will definitely be an inflation under 5%. In fact, the National Bank of Romania has predicted this. What is most gratifying is the economic growth for this year, but especially for next year. It succeeded because both in the local administration and in the central one there was a mobilization. (…) It is the first time in the history of Romania that we have actual payments of almost 41 billion in four months, only in the investment area, and the economic growth, it was for the first time based, not on consumption, but on investments,” Ciolacu said.
The head of the Executive visited, on Friday, the construction site of the Regional Emergency Hospital in the city of Iasi.
