Research minister announces launch of #nofake harmful content reporting platform

Published on

Romanians can report the inappropriate content they see on social networks on the „#nofake” platform, which is accessible from the website of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation at https://www.mcid.gov.ro/nofake/, minister in charge Bogdan Ivan announced on Friday.

„The #nofake platform will work as a point of contact for the analysis requests the Romanians make regarding digital fakes, derogatory content, online disinformation and manipulation. I thank our partners from the private sector – Google, Meta and TikTok – for their efforts so far. They have succeeded in implementing very effective systems whereby a substantial part of the deepfake content is blocked even before it is published. This new reporting mechanism will complement our efforts so far and the possibilities available on each social network, through its own reporting tools. The #nofake platform will ensure the rapid reporting and analysis of those few materials that could still slip through the filters implemented up to this point by each separate social network,” said Minister Bogdan Ivan, as cited in a release.

The „#nofake” platform works as a temporary reporting channel in 2024 and aims to ensure the integrity of democratic local, national and presidential elections, as well as of the European ballot.
