Minister of National Defence Angel Tilvar and Chief of Defense Staff, General Gheorghita Vlad participated on Monday via video call in the fifth meeting this year of the Ukraine Contact Group, where Romania reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the neighboring state, as well as to participating in various training missions, the National Defence Ministry said in a release.

The purpose of the meeting was to analyze, coordinate and enhance efforts to support Ukraine amid the latest developments in the Russian Federation’s war of aggression. Also, the meeting firmly condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukraine.

„Romania voiced appreciation for the very good cooperation with the U.S. and the Netherlands in ensuring the operation of the F-16 Training Center at the 86th Air Base in Fetesti. Also, Romania emphasized its determination to actively contribute to the international assistance and reconstruction initiatives for Ukraine and to continue the multidimensional support offered,” says the cited source.
