The Transalpina mountain motorway will reopen to traffic on Saturday, June 1, the general director of the National Road Infrastructure Management Corporation (CNAIR) Cristian Pistol announced on Facebook on Thursday.
According to the cited source, the decision was made following the check of the road’s condition by a commission made of CNAIR representatives.
„The Ranca – Curpat mountain sector of National Road DN67C (Transalpina) is to reopen during the day, between 8:00 and 18:00. Outside of this time interval, access is prohibited due to objective reasons related to the specifics of this high-altitude mountain area. Also, the speed limit on this road sector is 30 km/h, and the access of vehicles with more than 3.5 ton MAM is prohibited. Compliance with these restrictions is mandatory in order to prevent dangerous incidents and for a safe travel,” Cristian Pistol informed.
In snowy months, the more than 20 km long Transalpina section between Ranca and Obarsia Lotrului is closed to traffic.
