We must not focus everything on allowances, we must develop nurseries, kindergartens, after schools, says PM Ciolacu

Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu declared on Monday that child allowances represent a „correct” instrument, but the discussion should not be focused only on increasing them, but the projects regarding the construction of nurseries, kindergartens and public services after school must be further developed.

„You know that the allowances have been increased. First of all, it is important that we increase them along with inflation and maintain this pace. From my point of view, we should not focus everything on the allowances, it is a tool, it is a correct tool, an instrument that can be found in other European countries. We have to develop nurseries, kindergartens, after schools. At that moment, there will be no more this eternal discussion for allowances,” said Ciolacu when asked by the press when allowances for children would be increased.

He mentioned the projects financed through PNRR and from the budget, through the National Investment Company and through the Ministry of Development.

„At this moment, we have about 100 nurseries, they have started, which is through PNRR, let’s not talk about schools anymore,” said the prime minister.

The prime minister also spoke about the part of personal deductions that would result from the resettlement of the labor taxation system.

„The moment we start to deduct from the labor tax and direct the deductions for these services, the private system also develops, which is as normal as possible, it is not competitive with the public system, it is complementary,” said Marcel Ciolacu.
