The Ramstein Legacy 24 (RALY24) exercise in the field of Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) began on Tuesday at the Air Defense Training School in southeastern Capu Midia, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) informs.
According to the source, the exercise runs until June 14 and includes 1,300 soldiers from Romania and nine allied states (Czech Republic, France, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Hungary), who will operate PATRIOT & HAWK missile systems, respectively F-16, IAR-330, IAR-99, YAK-52 Romanian aircraft and other ground-based air defense equipment, command-control systems, as well as military aircraft of the participating nations.
A national objective in the course of the exercise is the completion of the operationalization process of the second PATRIOT system which, by executing real firings in the Capu Midia range, will be certified „mission capable”.
RALY24 contributes to increasing interoperability between IAMD detachments, practices tactics, techniques and allied action procedures within a defensive operation.
Until June 9, the deployment of the structures takes place in the training facilities in Romania, and between June 10 and 14, tactical training with and without live fire is planned. Later, until June 16, the program foresees the redeployment of the detachments in peace-keeping locations.
