The Social Democratic Party – National Liberal Party (PSD-PNL) electoral alliance obtained 48,70% of the votes cast in the European Parliament elections, Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) 14,95% and the United Right Alliance 8,61%, according to provisional data provided by the Central Electoral Bureau on Monday evening.
The data is provided following the centralisation of 19,717 polling stations out of a total of 19,870.
Specifically, PSD-PNL obtained 4,304,937 votes, AUR 1,321,272 votes and the United Right Alliance 761,307 votes.
They were followed by Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) with 6.53% (577,233 votes), S.O.S. Romania Party with 5.04% (445,951 votes), REPER with 3.67% (324,827 votes) and the independent Nicolae Stefanuta with 3.05% (269,488 votes).
The following candidates are: independent Vlad Gheorghe with 2.46% (217,558 votes), United Diaspora Party with 1.78% (157,781 votes), Social Liberal Humanist Party with 1.47% (129,723 votes), independent candidate Sosoaca Dumitru Silvestru with 0.94% (79. 677 votes), Partidul Patriotilor with 0.73% (64,644 votes), Partidul Romania Mare with 0.66% (58,546 votes), independent candidate Paula Marinela Pirvulescu with 0.57% (50,348 votes), Partidul Alternativa Dreapta with 0.45% (39,542 votes) and Romania Socialista with 0.42% (36,760 votes).
A total of 17,848,044 voters were registered on the permanent electoral rolls and copies of the special electoral rolls, of which 17,788,795 were registered on the permanent electoral rolls.
A total of 9,439,644 voters turned out at the polls, of whom 8,711,414 were registered on the permanent electoral rolls, 28,519 on the copies of the special electoral rolls and 699,711 on the supplementary electoral rolls.
A total of 22,137,486 ballots were received, of which 8,840,311 were valid and 484,078 invalid. 12,722,049 ballot papers were unused and annulled.
