Published on

Far-right leader Jordan Bardella (28) will be the candidate of his party, the National Assembly (Rassemblement national, RN) for the post of prime minister of France, the party’s vice-president Sebastien Chenu announced Monday, as quoted by AFP, cited by Agerpres.

„Jordan Bardella has been elected as a member of the European Parliament, so he has already been ‘anointed’ by the people” and „will be our candidate to go to Matignon,” the name of the French prime minister’s official residence, Chenu told RTL radio.

The announcement by the party led until two years ago by Marine Le Pen comes a day after French President Emmanuel Macron announced the dissolution of the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) and the calling of early legislative elections following the success of the French far-right in the European Parliament elections.
