The Black Sea area is vital for the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic space, the region where the war is taking place, and the Republic of Moldova is the NATO partner most affected by this conflict, President Iohannis said on Tuesday at the end of the B9 Summit.
„For us, in Romania, it is very important for NATO’s deterrence posture to be very strong and also for the defence capability to be full. (…) Romanians want to be defended and Romanians are defended by NATO. The second issue that I touched on, but also the other speakers (at the summit – ed. note) – support for Ukraine. I reiterated that Romania supports Ukraine, it stands by Ukraine together with other NATO allies as long as it is needed,” added Iohannis.
Regarding the Republic of Moldova, Iohannis said that the country is affected by the large number of refugees and hybrid attacks. „I made it very clear that we must help Moldova because it is a partner we want on our side,” Klaus Iohannis said.
He also stressed the importance of the Black Sea region.
„This war is fought in the Black Sea region, nowhere else in the world. This is where the war is. That is why it is extremely important for everyone to understand: the Black Sea, the Black Sea area is vital for the security of the entire Euro-Atlantic area,” the president said.
