PNL’s Ciuca: PNL to have own candidate in presidential election

Published on

The National Liberal Party (PNL) will have its own candidate for the presidential election, Liberal chairman Nicolae Ciuca said on Tuesday, and mentioned that there is no discussion in the coalition on a joint candidate with the Social Democratic Party (PSD).

Asked about the discussions in the coalition with PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu, Nicolae Ciuca said: „We discussed in principle if where we have candidates with joint lists, we should try to ensure majorities.”

Asked if the coalition was still open to discussing a joint candidate for the presidential elections, the PNL leader said no.

„PNL will have its own candidate for the presidential elections. We are going to establish the nomination in the party’s leadership,” Nicolae Ciuca added.
