Two trucks loaded with over 36 tonns of waste from Germany and the Netherlands, for which the drivers had no legal documents, were denied entry to the country by the authorities of Arad and Bihor.

The shipments were checked at the Nadlac II and Bors II Border Crossing Points and the drivers are Romanians, Arad Border Police said on Wednesday.

„They were transporting 36,220 kilograms of waste, consisting of plastics, tyres, goods that came from trading companies in Germany and the Netherlands for various companies in Romania. The border police and representatives of the Bihor and Arad County Police Stations of the National Environmental Guard and representatives of the Bihor and Arad Consumer Protection Authorities established that the drivers did not have complete documents required for waste import,” the source said.

The authorities have ordered that the waste be returned to the shippers.
