Construction production (volume) in Romania decreased in the first four months of 2024 by 2.6%, seasonally adjusted, as new construction works decreased by 6.4%. At the same time, capital repair works and ongoing maintenance and repair works increased by 9.7% and 6.1%, respectively.
A decrease by 23.8% was recorded in residential building works, while civil engineering works increased by 11.2% and non-residential by 4.7%.
In April 2024 compared with March 2024, the volume increased by 8%, seasonally adjusted, on increases in ongoing maintenance and repair works (+17.7%), capital repair works (+4.1%) and new construction works (+1.4%).
According to tINS, the volume increased in the case of non-residential buildings (+11%), residential buildings (+8.6%) and civil engineering works (+0.7%).
As against April 2023, the April 2024 construction production volume increased by 13.1% overall, seasonally adjusted. Increases occurred in ongoing maintenance and repair works (+27.4%), capital repair works (+10.6%) and new construction works (+7.5%).
Official data reveal that the construction production volume jumped up in civil engineering works (+16.9%), non-residential buildings (+14.4%) and residential buildings (+1.2%).
