The turnover of wholesale trade in Romania advanced 1.2%, unadjusted, in the first four months of 2024, y-o-y, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Between January 1 and April 30, 2024, positive results were recorded, unadjusted, in non-specialised wholesale trade (+18.7%), other specialised wholesale (+14%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+10.9%) and wholesale of agricultural raw materials and live animals (+0.3%).
On the other hand, decreases were recorded in wholesale trade intermediation (-9.2%), wholesale of consumer goods other than food (-6.8%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (-2.1%) and wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (-0.6%).
When seasonally adjusted, the turnover in wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 2.3% y-o-y.
On a monthly basis, April 2024 wholesale turnover declined 1.3%, unadjusted, and 0.2% seasonally adjusted.
Y-o-y, the April 2024 turnover in wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted, increased overall by 10.1% on increases in non-specialised wholesale (+36.8%), specialised wholesale of other products (+28.6%), wholesale of other machinery, equipment and supplies (+21.5%), wholesale of food, beverages and tobacco (+13.5%), wholesale of IT and telecommunications equipment (+11.4%) and wholesale of consumer goods other than food (+1.4%).
On the other hand, wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and live animals decreased by 17.5% and wholesale intermediation by 4.7%.
INS data reveal that the April 2024 wholesale trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, seasonally adjusted, increased, overall, over April 2023.
