Mihai Precup, President of the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of Public Enterprise Performance (AMEPIP), met in Tokyo with a working group of the Global Business Investment Support Office, part of the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of Japan.

The topics discussed focused on the promotion of investments between Romania and Japan in sectors of the future, through the organization of a workshop in Romania at the end of the year, dedicated to Romanian and Japanese state-owned companies, as well as the development of public-private partnerships with Japanese firms.

„Strengthening Romanian-Japanese economic cooperation. Yesterday, in Tokyo, I had the pleasure to meet with a working group of the Global Business Investment Support Office, part of the Cabinet of the Japanese Government Secretariat, led by Mr. Koyu Izumi, advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister and head of GBIS.

The meeting with GBIS representatives on the sidelines of the Romania-Japan Innovation Forum, which is taking place in the Japanese capital from June 26-28, was an excellent opportunity to highlight investment opportunities in Romania, while also highlighting the prospects for strengthening Romanian-Japanese cooperation within the framework of the Strategic Partnership.

The topics discussed were the promotion of investments between Romania and Japan in sectors of the future, through the organization of a workshop in Romania at the end of the year, dedicated to Romanian and Japanese state-owned companies, as well as the development of public-private partnerships with Japanese companies, in order to create new directions of economic and social development for our country. These partnerships could facilitate technology and know-how transfers, innovation and research, stimulating economic growth and job creation.

Also, in the current security context, we have promoted the message that Romania is ready and can become a regional hub for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. The initiative could involve an active collaboration between Romanian and Japanese companies to bring expertise and resources to the reconstruction process, which will bring significant benefits for both countries and contribute to the stabilization and reconstruction of the conflict-affected region.
