Romania’s political leaders congratulate national football team for EURO 2024 round of 16 qualification

President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and Senate President Nicolae Ciuca conveyed congratulatory messages to the national football team on Wednesday, after their draw with Slovakia, congratulating them on qualifying for the EURO 2024 round of 16.

The head of state pointed out that the national team players have brought joy to Romanians.

„Congratulations to the national football team for qualifying for the round of 16 of the European Championship! Dear Tricolors, you have once again brought joy to Romanians. We are with you! Go Romania!”, Iohannis wrote on Facebook.

This was also emphasized by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.

„You worked, you suffered and you won! Bravo, Romania! You have brought joy to the souls of Romanians!” the prime minister said on the same social network.

Senate President Nicolae Ciuca highlighted that Romania has achieved a historic performance on National Flag Day.

„Romania has achieved a historic performance today. On National Flag Day, Romania manages to qualify for the round of 16 at EURO 2024! We are proving that Romanian sport is reborn and has huge potential! I want to congratulate the national team for their determination and the pride they continue to bring to the country!”, Ciuca conveyed on Facebook.

Romania’s national team qualified for the round 16 of the European Football Championship – EURO 2024, hosted by Germany, as winners of Group E, after a 1-1 (1-1) draw with Slovakia on Wednesday evening on Frankfurt Arena.
