Striker George Puscas told a Thursday’s press conference held in Germany that he and his mates from the Romanian national football team have demonstrated on the field in the matches so far that they can fight with the Netherlands, their opponents in the round of 16 of EURO 2024, on equal footing.

„I think we will be ready for the Netherlands game. We came here to go past the groups and now we find ourselves in a historic moment for Romania. And if we have reached this incredible wave of the competition, I hope we can continue this performance and we are ready for a big match. I feel grateful to play in such a competition for the Romanian national team, and to be able to face some of the best players in the world. We are confident that we can beat the Netherlands, we have demonstrated this on the field. I am overjoyed to be on the field and fight on an equal footing with any opponent. And now I think we deserve the joy,” he said.

The Romanian national team qualified for the round of 16 of the European Football Championship – EURO 2024, hosted by Germany, as the winners of Group E, after a 1-1 (1-1) draw with Slovakia, on Wednesday evening, at the Frankfurt Arena.

The national team coached by Edward Iordanescu will face the Dutch team in the round of 16 of the European Football Championship – EURO 2024, hosted by Germany, a match that will take place on July 2, at the Football Arena in Munich, from 19:00.

Romania won Group E of the competition, and the Netherlands ranked third in Group D. Romania went past the group stage for the second time, after the 2000 edition, but now they managed to finish in first place.
