PSD was right to assume the government, because at this moment we see achievements (PM Ciolacu)

Published on

Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Wednesday that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) did the right thing to enter government, stressing that „at this moment we see achievements”, in response to the statements of National Liberal Party (PNL) chairman Nicolae Ciuca, „about a right-wing government after the elections”.

„I thought we got rid of presidents who do not respect the Constitution. To govern, you have to win elections or at least come first everywhere, especially in Europe. The party that wins the election nominates the prime minister and then sees if he or she creates a majority. This is one aspect. I really would not want to go back to the past, especially as the mandate of the president who used to do this will end this year. The second point – I have just told you some figures from the famous right-wing government, (…) when we all know that we were close to a social crisis, not to mention the economic crisis, the energy crisis, with that famous minister who was shouting to allow the free market, and I said that we all would have had an inflation of over 30 percent, it would be fair to explain how we had the discussions that the PSD, which would have been better off in Opposition, assumed to enter the government and we did well, because at this moment we see achievements,” said Marcel Ciolacu.

Also related to the PNL, he was asked about how he sees the fact that „several billboards were paid, (…) with huge costs, „from state money, from party subsidies”, to promote the image of the Liberal leader, Nicolae Ciuca, as it resulted from a journalistic investigation.

„I understand they were used to launch a book. It will be a bestseller, I am firmly convinced, especially considering the promotion it has had,” prime minister Ciolacu further said.

The head of the Executive paid a working visit on Wednesday, together with Transport and Infrastructure minister Sorin Grindeanu, to check the state of works on the A7 motorway, Buzau-Focaani section, Vadu Pasii area, Buzau county.
