Investigation at St. Pantelimon Hospital has stirred national emotion, says PM Ciolacu

Published on

The investigation into the case of the St. Pantelimon Hospital has produced „a national emotion”, which has turned into a „tough” public dispute, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Wednesday, adding that his duty is to stand by the doctors and all those in the health care system who do their job „honestly” and that those who have made a mistake should pay for it.

„I see that the investigation at St. Pantelimon [Hospital] has stirred a national emotion, turned, however, into a tough public dispute. There are accusations thrown without limits at doctors that can generate lack of confidence in the medical act with serious and long-term consequences. My duty, as prime minister, is to stand by the doctors and all those in the health care system who honestly do their job, and whoever has made a mistake, regardless of the name, should pay. However, an audit must also be carried out, with national and international experts, of all working procedures in hospitals, starting with intensive care and continuing in each field separately,” Ciolacu said at the beginning of the government meeting.
