Job vacancies in Q2 2024 stood at 34,500, by 500 fewer compared to the previous quarter and 4,900 down from the year-ago period, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) informs on Wednesday.

The estimated job vacancy rate in Q2 was 0.67 percent, by 0.02 percentage points lower compared to Q1 and 0.10 percentage points down year-over-year.

In the reporting period, the job vacancy rate was highest in the production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (1.54 percent), performance, cultural and recreational activities (1.41 percent), and financial intermediation and insurance (1.24 percent).

The manufacturing industry provided for almost 24 percent of the total number of vacancies (8,200), and its vacancy rate was 0.75 percent.

According to INS data, the public sector accounted for roughly 21 percent of the total number of job vacancies, of which 3,300 were in public administration, 3,200 in health care and social assistance, and 900 in education.

Conversely, the sectors with the lowest vacancy rate were the mining industry (0.17 percent), education (0.23 percent), other services (0.28 percent).

The fewest vacancies were in real estate transactions, the mining industry, and other services (100 each).
