Prime minister Marcel Ciolacu announced on Monday that the Government is not considering raising taxes and that it will go ahead with the digitalization of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), the increase of budget revenues and the reform of public spending.
The statements were made at a meeting with representatives of the Concordia Employers’ Confederation.
According to a government press release, during the consultations, the prime minister conveyed to the Concordia representatives that the main elements of the Agreement proposed by the Executive to the European Commission are the gradual reduction of the budget deficit over the next seven years and the support for the large investment projects that Romania will carry out in 2025 and 2026.
„We have asked the European Commission for this new agreement so that Romania does not fall into a steep deficit. We need to continue investments, support the industrial area and Romanian production. We are not considering raising taxes. We are going ahead with the digitalization of ANAF, the increase of budget revenues and the reform of public spending,” prime minister Ciolacu said during the consultations at the Victoria Palace of Government.
He emphasized that consultations with the business environment on tax reform will take place starting next year: „We will not make any decision on tax reform without consulting the business environment and without giving entrepreneurs sufficient time to implement new measures”.
The cited source states that the business representatives appreciated the dialogue with the Government, continued and detailed at the ministerial level.
„At today’s consultations at the Victoria Palace, the representatives of the Executive and the business environment also discussed the implementation of the E-Invoice, E-VAT, E-Transport, E-Transport, the Return Guarantee System, the preparation for the implementation of the European minimum wage, as well as other issues related to the tourism sector,” reads the press release.
