Liberal Ciuca, on Moldova Independence Day: Bucharest supports Chisinau in EU accession

Published on

Republic of Moldova’s Independence Day celebrates this country’s exit from the URSS [Union of Soviet Socialist Republics] more than thirty years ago when the former soviet republics regained their right to choose their own destiny, while today Chisinau is on its path to European accession, „which is the sole guarantee of development and wellbeing.” And Bucharest support this path, the president of the Senate, Nicolae Ciuca, said in a message on Tuesday.

„In 1991, the same as now, August 27 finds us in a time when we are facing many challenges from Moscow. However, today, the Republic of Moldova is firmly committed to join the European Union and its institutions, which are successful in counteracting the Russian interferences. As president of the Senate, I reassure the authorities in Chisinau that Bucharest supports them on their European path. For the Eastern part of our continent, EU integration is the sole guarantee of development and wellbeing. I celebrate this very important day for our brothers on the other bank of the Prut River and I wish them good luck, from the bottom of my heart, prosperity and success in their European endeavour,” Ciuca wrote in a post on Facebook.
