Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu attended the opening of the fourth edition of the Forum of Romanian Students from Abroad at the Victoria Palace on Wednesday, where he told them that Romania needs their energy, creativity and determination to face the complex challenges of the future, but above all to develop.
„Dear students, (…) I congratulate you, you are doing an extraordinary job here, bringing together young Romanians from all over the world, young people who share a common desire to contribute to Romania’s development. You are, in fact, the Romania of tomorrow, and I am not saying this by looking at your youth, but at the maturity you show. You have understood that Romania can develop only fighting for something not against someone! The concrete solutions for Romania’s development proposed in previous editions are clear proof of this. Today, more than ever, Romania needs your energy, creativity and determination to face the complex challenges of the future, but above all to develop,” Ciolacu underscored.
According to the PM, Romania has a favorable context for the professional development of young people.
„I know that it is my obligation, as a parent, first and foremost, to do everything in my power, as a prime minister, so that you can benefit from all the opportunities necessary to develop your potential. The current context is extremely favorable to you. (…) The Romanian economy has grown, industry has grown, large metallurgy, iron and steel and petrochemical plants, whose only future was in scrap iron, are reborn with the help of private capital. Specialists and professionals are highly appreciated and sought after, and the local private sector or large international corporations are giving a real battle to have them on their side. Today, salaries for professionals rival those in developed countries, which we have looked at for so many years with wonder,” said Marcel Ciolacu.
He pointed out that it is also vital to raise new generations of specialists through the technological education system.
„It is vital, in my opinion, to create new generations of specialists through the technological education system. More than 1 billion euros from European funds, the PNRR and the state budget for dual education, including university, in the next 5 years. This money, which finances dual technical education programmes, is the guarantee for those like you and for those who come after you that you will be able to have a decent life here in Romania,” Ciolacu added.
PM Ciolacu congratulated the members of the League of Romanian Students Abroad for their courage and efforts to prepare themselves professionally far from home. „It’s not easy, neither to get there nor to be so young and far away from your family and friends. I am launching a challenge for you, a theme to think about: learn as much as you can, accumulate as much knowledge as you can where you are, but apply everything you have learned here in Romania. In today’s Romania you can develop professionally more than past generations had the chance to do,” Ciolacu also said.
