UDMR [Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania – editor’s note] on Friday is set to announce its presidential candidate for this autumn’s election.
The Council of Union Representatives of the UDMR will have a meeting in Cluj Napoca on Friday to establish the candidate.
On June 27, the UDMR leader, Kelemen Hunor, stated in Cluj Napoca, after a meeting of the Council of Union Representatives, that the party will have its own candidate in this year’s presidential election.
„No matter the date of the presidential election, the Hungarian community will have its candidate. Hungarians need to have a voice to represent them in the presidential election,” said Kelemen Hunor.
According to him, UDMR will have its own candidate in the presidential election to show the power of the Hungarian community, which counts in Romania and can be counted on.
„The Hungarian candidate will speak about the hopes and fears of the Hungarians, he/she will spoke about the social problem of this community and he/she will show through his/her message the kind of country we want to live in,” said the UDMR leader.
